2 Corinthians 13:5 “Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you fail to meet the test!” (ESV)

What is salvation?

 What is salvation?

Salvation is the process which God saves mankind from sin.  God has created all of humanity, but all of humanity has consciously rebelled against Him and His purposes.  Mankind justly deserves God's wrath but God lovingly sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross.  Christ's death and resurrection from the grave are the only means by which God's wrath upon sin is satisfied.  Salvation is referred to as the "Gospel" for it is the "good news" that Christ has come to satisfy man's greatest need.  Those who repent from their sin, place their faith and trust in Christ, and believe in His death on the cross and resurrection from the grave receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.  Those who remain in their sinful state will be forever separated from God and under His just wrath in eternal death in Hell.  God's offer of salvation through the Gospel is extended to all humanity until the day of one's death or until the day of His return and judgment.

Do I need to pray a prayer to be saved?

Do I need to pray a prayer to be saved?

No special or formulaic prayer is needed, but one should call upon God in repentance from sin, belief in His crucifixion and resurrection, and trust in His Lordship.

- (Romans 10:9) because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

- (Romans 10:13) everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

- (Mark 1:14-15)  “Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.’”

Apart from Christ, what are the consequences of sin?

Apart from Christ, what are the consequences of sin?

The consequence of our rebellion against God through sin is eternal separation from Him in Hell.

(Ephesians 2:1-3) “1As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.”

Brittney’s Seizure - Urgent Prayers Please! - 11/5/24

 Brittney’s Seizure - Urgent Prayers Please! - 11/5/24

On our way home from Florida we stopped at a Buccee’s in Athens, Alabama where Brittney started feeling strange and unwell. Soon Brittney started to experience a serious 5+ minute seizure (went unconscious, eyes rolled back, shaking, foaming at the mouth).  At one point Brittney stopped breathing for about 30 seconds and turned purple, but I was able to give her rescue breaths and she was able to start breathing again. Scary.

After the seizure, Brittney was confused for another 15 minutes but then stabilized. The staff at Buc-ee’s (Athens, AL), bystanders, firefighters, EMTs, and hospital staff have been amazing.

More than anything we are so grateful to God for protecting Brittney’s life today.

Ways to pray:

       No more seizures for Brittney

Wisdom for the doctors and all the necessary testing and next steps

Safe travel home whenever we get released

For our girls to recover from the trauma of what they witnessed

Psalm 91:1-2 “He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. [2] I will say to the LORD, ‘My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.’”

11/5/24 EVENING

UPDATE: Thank you for your prayers for Brittney, the Lord answered! Thankfully she is alive with no permanent damage. The Alabama ER Dr talked to Brittney’s neuro care team in Louisville and we were discharged. We decided to spend the night locally and plan on returning home in the morning. Please pray for her continued protection.

God is always good!

Ecclesiastes 7:14 “In the day of prosperity be joyful, and in the day of adversity consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that man may not find out anything that will be after him.”

11/6/24

Prayers are appreciated for safe travels home!

11/7/24

After a full day of good rest, this beauty is excited to be back doing what she loves, teaching! We are grateful to Jesus for another day of life! Thank you so much for your continued prayers and sweet loving words

 Ways to pray:

- good strength, endurance, and mental focus thru the day

- all the necessary testing & medicines to protect Brittney from any further brain or neck artery issues

- for all of us as we heal from the trauma of Wednesday

Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, [24] knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”
